Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into Bowen University Postgraduate Programmes for the 2013/2014 academic session leading to the Award of Master of Science (MSc) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees of the University in various areas of specialization in the following programmes:

A.    POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES
       
    1.    Faculty of Agriculture:

        (a)    Agricultural Economics
        (b)    Animal Science
        (c)    Crop Protection
        (d)    Environmental Management

    2.    Faculty of Science and Science Education:
       
        (a) Chemistry
        (b) Mathematics
        (c) Microbiology
        (d) Physics

    3.    Faculty of Social and Management Sciences:

        Accounting

B.    GENERAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
    1.    MSc   Programme
        (a)    All candidates are required to possess a Bachelor’s degree obtained from a University approved by         Senate and with a grade of not less than Second Class Lower Division.
        (b)    A candidate with less than Second Class Lower Division may be considered provided he/she scores a minimum of 55% in a qualifying examination to be conducted by the Department.
        (c )    In addition to 1(a) and 1(b) above, candidates must satisfy the Ordinary Level requirement of five subjects which must include English Language, Mathematics and any other three subjects as may be specified for the programme of choice .

    2.    Ph.D Programme
        (a)    To be eligible, a candidate must have a relevant Master’s Degree or equivalent from a University approved by Senate and a minimum of weighted average score of 60%.
        (b)    In special cases, a Department may require additional conditions including an interview

          2.        On-line Application
        To complete the Application Form On –line:
        (a)    Visit Bowen University website www.bowenuniversity-edu.org
        (b)    Download, print and study the On-line Postgraduate Application Procedure.
        (c )    The cost of the On-line application is a non-refundable fee of Ten Thousand Three Hundred and Fifty Naira (N10,350.00) including bank charges.

D.    INSTRUCTIONS
   
For Application Forms obtained by Hand/Post or Downloaded
   
(a) Candidates should complete and submit the Form with the required documents listed in E (below) and a      non-refundable fee of N10,000.00 in  Bank Draft payable to Bowen University, Iwo obtained from any of the following banks.

    1.    First Bank Nigeria Plc
    2.    Guaranty Trust Bank Plc
    3.    Wema Bank Plc
    4.    Skye Bank Plc
    5    Sterling Bank Plc

(b)    Candidates must indicate their names and addresses at the back of the Bank Draft.
(c )    Each request for application form by post must be accompanied by a  N50.00 (Fifty naira) stamped and self-addressed envelope.

E    REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
   
    (a)    Application Forms

    All application forms collected by hand or by post or downloaded are to be submitted with the following:
    (i)    Photocopies of O’Level Certificate(s)

    (ii)    Bachelor’s Degree Certificate

    (iii)    NYSC Certificate of National Service or Exemption Certificate (where applicable)

    (iv)    Master’s Degree Certificate (for PhD applicants)

    (v)    Marriage Certificate or evidence of change of name (where applicable)

    (vi)    Ten (10) recent passport photographs   

    (b)    For On-line Application
   
    In addition to the documents listed in E(a) above, all candidates who completed their applications on-line are to submit the following to the Secretary, Postgraduate School, Bowen University, Iwo Osun State.

    (i)    Photocopy of the “Bank Payment Slip”
    (ii)    Photocopy of the Branch Collect Pin Payment Receipt for Bowen University.
    (iii)    Photocopy of the Acknowledgement Card and Profile Entry printed on-line.

    (c )    Academic Transcript
   
    Candidates must ensure that their academic transcripts are sent directly to

F.    REFEREE’S REPORTS

    (a)    Application Forms
    (i)    Download or collect by hand/post the three Referees’ Confidential Reports Form for the Referees to complete.  At least one of the Referees must be the Head or a Senior member of the Department where the candidate obtained his/her degree.  

    (ii)    Completed Referees report should be sent under confidential cover directly to: The Dean, Postgraduate School, Bowen University, Iwo, Osun State.
   
    (b)    On-line Application
        (i)    Candidates are to correctly fill details of their three Referees under the Referees Section in the on-line Application Form.  At least one of them must be the Head or a Senior member of the Department where the candidate obtained his/her degree.      

       (ii)    Each Referee will be alerted via the e-mail address provided.  Candidates should therefore inform their Referees in advance.

G.    CLOSING DATE

    Completed applications forms whether on-line or otherwise, must be submitted not later Friday, 12th July, 2013.
